The Development of Radiological Consequence Accident Analysis Methods for the UK PWR
Main Article Content
Abstract
The radiological consequence accident analyses methods used for UK PWR Safety Case Assessments have been developed using more detailed models of the important processes occurring during faults. The benefits of this approach are that it provides a more realistic evaluation of radiological consequences to the public, and a more realistic description of the fault for the operator recognition and action. The paper reviews improvements to the analysis of a reactor building loss of coolant accident with respect to the source term, aerosol behaviour and iodine volatility.
