Abstract

Neutron microscopy was studied with the system using a long distance optical microscope. A Kasei-NR converter was used as the image screen, and a SIT tube was used for taking the image enlarged with the long distance microscope. The line spread function and the MTF of the whole system were measured from the edge spread function obtained with a Cd sharp edge. The FWHM of the line spread function was evaluated to be about 180 micron, which showed that the resolving power of the neutron microscope is dominantly limited with that of the NR scintillation converter itself. Holes in a Cd plate and powder particles of B4C, which sizes were nearly 100 microns, were clearly observed.
