Abstract

A remodeling of the inside structure of a neutron beam tube for the neutron radiography has been carried out by using a large-size single-crystal silicon filter at the Musashi reactor. The purpose of the remodeling is to enlarge the beam diameter at the neutron irradiation field without changing the neutron intensity or to enhance the neutron intensity without changing the beam diameter. It became clear that a single-crystal silicon was the best band-pass filter of thermal neutrons and the moderate shield for fast neutrons and gamma-rays.
