Characterization Of The NRU Neutron Radiography Facility

Abstract

A new neutron radiography facility was installed in the NRU (National Research - Universal) reactor at the Chalk River Laboratories of AECL Research. The facility design was - optimized for a high production rate of neutron radiographs of relatively small parts. We have found that the facility routinely produces neutron radiographs of Category I (measured and calculated using the methods of ASTM E545). The beam intensity varies by only a few percent over the entire film plane.
