In-Situ Rebuild of the Gentilly 2 Steam Generators

Abstract

The damage in the tube bundles of the four steam generators installed at Gentilly 2 which occurredduring the furnace heat-treatment of the completed assembly in the shop, neccessitated the complete replacement of these bundles. The decision to replace these bundles in-situ required the development of new design and fabrication methods to solve this first-of-a kind problem. An overview of the constraints of this rebuild program, the methods used and the results obtained are presented.
