Level Swelling in Pressurizer and Steam Generators

Abstract

A simplified but physically sound model of level swelling is presented. The rigorous equation of swell level inside a control volume is derived from the mass conservation for both phases. The effects of vapour generation rate and the drift model on the level swell analysis are discussed applications of the model to the Marviken test-top blowdown and the GE test of vessel depressurization are also presented. This model can be applied directly to any thermalhydraulic or simulator code.
