Abstract

The dynamic operation of the AGS in a CANDU nuclear reactor has been modelled In terms of the gas chemistry and particularly dew point which is used to monitor a potential D20 leak from the Primary Heat Transport (PHT) System. The computerized model in an early stage of development,is being used to study the performance of the AGS in the feed/bleed mode of operation. Continuous feed and bleed oparation refers to deliberately removing gas from the AGS downstream of dew point detection and adding fresh dry gas upstream. This mode is being examined as an automated means of reducing the system purge frequency while maintaining its sensitivity to detecting pressure tube (PT) leaks.
