Verification of CHAN-II (MOD6) Against Experiments
Main Article Content
Abstract
The CHAN-II series of codes is used in the licensinq analysis of CANDU reactors. The basic code provides a fast calculational tool for the prediction of fuel channel heatup during a postulated loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA) with loss of emergency coolant injection (LOECI). It is the objective of this paper to discuss verification of the CHAN-II(M0D 6) computer code against two seven-element experiments performed at WNRE under COG/CANDEV, designed to represent a multi-rod geometry. The main models and assumptions used in the code will be briefly described. The objective of the experiments is to produce data for code verification under integrated conditions with significant hydrogen production and flow rates similar to the LOCA/LOECI scenario. Agreement between prediction by CHAN-II (MOD 6) and experimental results is reasonably good.
