The Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Federal Regulation, Including Future Trends
Main Article Content
Abstract
The radiation protection aspects of the Canadian Atomic Energy Control (AEC) Regulations reflect to a large extent the recommendations of the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP). However, the Atomic Energy Control Board (AECB) also applies its own extensive experience with the nuclear fuel cycle when formulating these Regulations. This paper discusses the extent to which the current
Regulations and the proposed General Amendments to the Regulations reflect current ICRP philosophy and outlines the possible direction of future regulatory action.
