Industrial Long Term Radioactive Waste Management In France

Abstract

Long-term industrial management of radioactive waste in France is carried out by the Agence Nationale pour la Gestion des Dechets Radioactifs (ANDRA). ANDRA is in charge with design , siting, construction and operation of disposal centers. The French national program for waste management is running on with the construction of a second near surface disposal which is expected in operation in 1991 and the selection of a site for the construction of an underground laboratory for the qualification of this site for deep disposal.
