A Method for Simulating Grey Slabs in CANDU Reactors

Abstract
A method for calculating 2 energy group boundary conditions to be applied on slab surfaces has been developed for the simulation of the Poison Injection System in CANDU. The method is essentially based on P1 spherical harmonics but includes the effect of the fuel on the neutron spectrum in the slab and consequently on its neutron absorption cross section. Results are presented for a range of neutron poison concentrations in the slab.
