In-House Manufacturing of Spare and Replacement Parts - The Future Challenge

Abstract

During their operating life, Nuclear Generating Stations will require a reliable source of spare and replacement parts. Studies and experience suggest that not all necessary parts will be supplied by the original manufacturer of the equipment. If all other ources fail some parts will have to be manufactured in-house. To be successful the Nuclear Generating Stations have to be prepared and aware of the limitations of this process. The essential prerequisites are discussed and the present state is assessed.
